Participation Waiver, Release of Liability, and Assumption of Risk Agreement

1. Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risk 

I understand and acknowledge that participation in volleyball—whether recreational or competitive—carries inherent risks, including but not limited to collisions, falls, contact with the ball, equipment failures, and the actions of other participants. These risks can result in serious injury and/or permanent disability.
By signing this agreement, I voluntarily assume all such risks, both known and unknown, and accept full responsibility for my participation.

2. Release and Waiver of Liability 

In consideration of being permitted to participate in this volleyball event, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, assigns, and personal representatives, hereby release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue the event organizers, sponsors, facility owners, referees, staff, and volunteers (collectively referred to as “the Released Parties”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any injury, illness, damage, or loss that may occur as a result of my participation.

3. Medical Treatment and Insurance 

I certify that I am physically fit and capable of participating safely. I authorize the event organizers or medical personnel to administer first aid and/or arrange emergency transport or medical treatment if necessary. I understand that I am solely responsible for my own medical insurance coverage and related expenses. I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties for any costs incurred due to such medical treatment.

4. Indemnification and Hold Harmless 

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising out of my participation or conduct, including any negligent or reckless act or omission.

5. Photo, Video, and Media Release 

I grant permission to the organizers to use photographs, video recordings, or other media taken during the event that include my image or likeness for promotional purposes, without compensation or further approval.

6. Conduct and Compliance 

I agree to comply with all event regulations and instructions from referees/staff. I understand that unsafe, unsportsmanlike, or disrespectful behavior will result in immediate removal.

7. Severability 

I understand that if any portion of this agreement is held invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full legal force and effect.

Waiver Agreement *

Tournament Rules

General:

  • Play to 25, win by 2, no cap.

No Attitudes Tournament and NCAA Volleyball Hybrid Rules:

  • Doubles are OK unless they go over the net in which case the point is lost.
  • Hard driven balls can be lifted.
  • Open hand reception is OK.
  • Hand set over the net is OK, as long as the ball direction is square with the shoulders upon release, else point is lost.
  • A dink must start in front of body and cannot change direction after first contact, else point is lost.
  • Any net touch (except for hair), point is lost.

Quad Tournament Specific Rules:

  • Players must alternate male/female (and non-binary assignments) and play their rotation position (no switching positions allowed).
  • Purposely over on first touch, point is lost if opposing team cannot keep the ball in play (The Isaac/Chi/Hugo Rule!).
  • Disputed play (in/out, net, etc.) - replay point.
